What is Making Waves?
Making Waves is a company that is dedicated to teaching children and adults to swim. For 16 years, we operated from freezing health clubs and school pools that left a lot to be desired in terms of cleanliness and reliability. It was our vision to create a facility that matched our service, one that was sparkling clean, with a warm pool and atmosphere – for being cold exaggerates fear – with plenty of warm showers and lots of room for changing.
We have taken great care over every detail.
We designed the pool with a toilet right beside it to minimise the disruption to children’s learning, and to increase child protection.
We opted for soft fabric ducting to minimise the noise and reduce the energy use.
We chose the Dryden glass complete daisy system, to ensure that not only was it more environmentally friendly, it was kind to childrens’ (and their teacher’s!) skin, airways and hair.
We installed a glass balustrade, giving full open view of the pool and put in a café to allow parents to relax a little.
And that’s just the facility. Our lessons are progressive and structured. We don’t use armbands. Our teachers are in the water and get children to swim unaided as early as possible. Our class sizes are small. We give one to one attention to each child, developing their swimming from their starting point. We pay particular attention to how the stroke is developed, ensuring that children not only become confident in the water, but that their swimming is a delight to watch and a starting point for a multitude of other sports and fitness pursuits that will be with them for their whole lives.

Where are your lessons?
Our lessons are in our private swimming facility in East Kilbride. We are located within the Playsport Complex on Stewartfield Way, G74 4GT
What age do your lessons start from?
Our lessons start from three months old. We hold Bubble Babies for three months old to six months old. We hold Bubble Babies for babies aged six months to two and three quarter years old. Our Level 1 lessons start from two and three quarter years old. Making Waves Swim School also offers adult lessons too!
Do you offer a sibling discount?
Yes, Making Waves Swim School offers a sibling discount per child attending the lessons.
What duration are your lessons?
Our lessons run for thirty minutes. Our Level 4 and adult classes run for 45 minutes.
What will my child need to bring with them to their lessons?
Your child will need a swim suit, a pair of goggles, a towel, as well as shampoo and conditioner. Your child will not require any floatation devices.
For babies and children that are not toilet trained we recommend a swim nappy underneath their swimsuit. We sell all of these items at our reception.
Do you have changing facilities and showers?
Our facility has changing facilities and an accessible changing room. Our facility has showers too, and hairdryers for use.
Can I visit the pool before booking?
We love the opportunity to show families around our facility! Our reception staff are happy to give a tour of our facility and answer any questions you may have.
