Palladian house that played a prominent role in the Scottish Enlightenment
Step back in time on one of our expertly guided tours and explore Newhailes House, a treasure trove of curiosities that offers an insight into the lives of the generations of Dalrymple family who once lived here.
Enjoy woodland walks in the 18th-century designed landscape with views across the River Forth, and afterwards treat yourself to a delicious lunch in our Stables Café.
Come along to one of our many family-friendly events – including festivals, musical performances, dog and car shows, and our monthly Farmers’ Market.
Inspire your child’s imagination as they climb, crawl, slide and explore in Weehailes Adventure Playpark!
Newhailes is a stunning estate, complete with a Palladian mansion, woodland walks and our recently renovated Stables Café – there is something for all the family to enjoy.
Weehailes, our adventure play park, has been specially developed for younger children and is themed on the Newhailes story. Inspired by the story of the house and its important role in the Scottish Enlightenment, the play park has a book-related theme centred around the ‘library’, complete with stained glass windows. Turrets, slides and high-level walkways provide lots of opportunities for children to explore and have fun!
The play area is designed for children aged 3–12 but children aged 0–15 are admitted.
Please note that you no longer need to book in advance!
Weehailes operates a quiet hour from 10am–11am on a Saturday and Sunday, where we limit the number of people to 30 in the park at any one time. There is no need to pre-book for access.
