Discover the Centre
We’re a great meeting place where you can experience Scotland’s rich cultural heritage.
In the Storytelling Court you will find an interactive Storywall which is always enjoyed by children (and adults too!)
Find Greyfriars Bobby; catch the frog; meet Nessie, the Gruffalo and Wee Willie Winkie; and discover traditional Scottish tales. You can also listen to excerpts from Edinburgh’s most famous storyteller, Robert Louis Stevenson, and we always have a free exhibition on display from artists across Scotland and beyond.
Swap your own stories in our Cafe over some delicious home baking and great coffee.
The Storytelling Café
Looking for a light breakfast, a hearty lunch, or an afternoon coffee? The Storytelling Centre serves a great range of hot drinks and traditional food, situated right in the middle of the Royal Mile.
The Storytelling Café now hosts The Haggis Box, who put a delicious street-food style twist on Scotland’s national dish. With freshly made, locally sourced haggis, neeps and tatties, and a choice of rich sauces, The Haggis Box give a tasty experience for first-time and seasoned Haggis eaters.
We have robust safety and cleaning measures in place in the café to keep you safe during your visit. Our tables are regularly cleaned and well-spaced out across the Storytelling Court and provide table service so you can enjoy your stay while being as safe as possible.
